Commonly Asked Questions About Planting

When is it safe to plant?

The technical frost date in this zone is May 15th. We recommend not planting until at least May 10th, or a week of solid temperatures in the mid 50's at night.

How far should I plant my flowers apart?

Remember the closer you plant the taller they will grow, the further you plant the more they may spread. My rule of thumb is a fist apart, especially for impatiens and begonias. Follow the recommended label in each plant.

How often do I fertilize?

We suggest fertilizing geraniums about every 7 days, all other annuals every 10-14 days. We give away liquid PETERS fertilizer with any plant purchase. Bring in your own container or purchase our jug. Peters/Jacks is what Tom Strain uses.
